Travel Guide: Houston Texas And It’s Most Instagram Worthy Spots-Sip & Play Edition

I know so many of you have been so eager for this 2nd part of this travel guide to be published and I am so thrilled to finally share all of my favorite Houston gems with you today! I launched the first edition a few weeks ago and I highly recommend reading it too so you can eat your way through Houston. Find it here.

Considering just how close and accessible Houston is to Tulsa and of course Lin’s family living there, I have spent my last seven Thanksgiving holidays there and have yet to share. (well there have been a few things here and there) But it was time to really put a good itinerary together for you! And while this one is a bit long and picture heavy, I promise that you will get so much out of it for your Houston travels so bookmark this one! We have grown to love this picturesque and interesting city very much. In fact every time I visit The Magnolia City, I enjoy it more and more. As a creature of habit, I do tend to visit a lot of the same places because I love them, but always add something new to my trip each time. And thanks to my friend Karen who lives there, she is always keeping me in the loop of the newest and greatest! But I definitely have my Houston staples as I like to call them! Each and every one is highly Instagrammable too! We all know it’s for the gram!

Scenic Drive Traveling Maine's Coast To Boston In The Fall// 7 day Maine Itinerary

On November 1st Lin and I landed in Bangor Maine to travel the coast down to Boston. This trip had been on my bucket list as long as I can remember and I am so happy that we followed through. Maine’s Route 1 road trip is as quintessential New England as the West Coast’s Route 1 drive is classic California. While this itinerary starts from Bangor Maine and heads down the coast to Kennebunkport, it can certainly be enjoyed in the opposite direction too. There are two ways to go about this ride: Make a lot of stops on the way up and then power home. Or, pick a few pit stops for the way up, and save a few for the way back. There are so many various options.

A lot of planning went into my itinerary and I really hope you enjoy seeing Maine’s beautiful coast through my eyes—the must-see’s and must-do’s and the amazing culinary scene…OMG. This was such an incredible 7 days and I will forever remember every second of Maine’s endless cute towns and all the lobster rolls!

An Affair Of The Heart 2018: My Recap!

As soon as I returned from Boston I was so happy to kickstart the holidays at An Affair Of The Heart in Tulsa. If you haven’t heard of An Affair Of The Heart, it’s a truly unique event that happens several times a year in Oklahoma and a few surrounding areas. And if you have been following me for a while, I featured ten amazing gift items in a holiday gift guide for you to discover at the show in this post and also this post. An Affair Of The Heart brings together the creators of the world who have an especially strong sense of community, creativity, and soul, and all of the exhibitors I got to talk to were incredibly friendly and talented. While I was there I spotted some amazing entrepreneurs that I thought I’d share with you today of course with huge emphasis on the ten I have already included! I hope you enjoy the pics from the event too as well as pics from the blogger event I co-hosted with Lisa and Kristin! I feel confident your other favorite Tulsa bloggers will be working with An Affair Of The Heart in 2019 too!

My Favorite Woman-Owned Small Businesses// Lilly + Oak

Today is Small Business Saturday, an opportunity to join in and support the small businesses in your neighborhood and across the country by shopping small!!! And I do not know about you but I feel very blessed to be alive during a time when many of my favorite small businesses are owned by women. So many amazing boss babes are pushing boundaries and showing just how strong and successful women can be. As a person who has had my own small business I can tell you that it’s not easy to go out on your own and start something from scratch. It’s a huge risk but if you have a network of likeminded women who can support you, advise you, and grow alongside you, that makes all the difference. I’m proud to say that I have a network like this of my own: We attend each other’s events, shop for each other’s products, show each other some love on social media, and support each other in any way we can.

5 Reasons Why I Left Great Lengths And Came Back To PerfecTress® Hair Extensions

For the majority of my life I have always had long hair but have also always worn hair extensions! And it’s no secret! But if you are a new reader, let me bring you in on a little secret of mine: I wear extensions more often than not! While I wish that my hair could grow five inches overnight, I’ve come to terms with the fact that extensions are the only way to make this dream a reality. Don’t get me wrong, I love wearing my hair natural too, well okay, I am totally fibbing…I hate my natural hair. I’m lacking in volume and length so I make up for it with my hair extensions. You can search hair extensions on my blog and have a whole weekend’s worth of reading material. Two years ago I made a big decision to leave the brand of extensions I had been wearing for a long time for Great Lengths hair extensions and while I was very happy with how they looked, I was not happy with a lot of things about them! (The major thing being the price and the longevity of them)

I am so excited to kick off the festivities with Fashion in The Square in Utica Square! I love it there, especially this time of year!!

This is a FREE event to celebrate Utica Square's long-held reputation as Tulsa's premier fashion, retail and restaurant district. The latest styles take center stage at the Merchant Runway Show in the Square's Garden on Saturday October 13 right in-between The Wild Fork and Starbucks! I was actually asked to walk down the runway this year but had to politely pass on that part! (I am so shy ya’ll)

The Hottest Hoisery To Try This Fall

Happy fall everyone!!!

I could not be more excited for this special time of year and just because it's cooler out doesn't mean that you have to trade in your shorter dresses, right? Pairing separates and dresses with the season's hottest tights style is the best (and one of the most affordable!) way to easily update your wardrobe. Tights will keep your legs cozy and make them look sexy. Plus tights can be worn under basically anything.

Hosiery is making a big comeback for fall and there were plenty of examples at New York Fashion Week that I was absolutely drooling over!! Basic black tights are fail-proof,(and I think every gal needs a few in her drawer) but the season’s best offerings involve a bit more risk taking, with colors, embellishments and the perennial fishnet. I mean Blake Lively is always wearing fishnet stockings with sexy mini tight slouchy dresses and tailored coats!

So that’s why I teamed up with Berkshire® Leg wear this season ! They are a USA manufactured and a leading department, specialty and online brand and they have designed its best collection yet with many fashion innovations.

LoveFest 2018

The year was 2018…or was it?!!

I recently had the pleasure of attending one of the funnest wedding celebrations I have ever attended!!! Their was music, flower crowns, food trucks, a beer garden, anacondas, and even helicopter rides.

It was truly so magical!!! The dusty air, sunset, amazing food and tunes. I felt like I was at my favorite music festival actually. And festivals really weave a special kind of magic – it’s wild, invigorating, and the energy is electric. With a buzz in the air and glitter in your hair and all over your face— nothing can make you feel more alive than the chaos and freedom of a festival or a celebration of love!!!!!!!

Boho Nautical Daydreams Featuring Zelma Rose

I booked a trip to Maine this November traveling the coast from Acadia to Boston and I could not be more excited. Traveling Maine's rocky coastline surrounded with fall foliage has been on my bucket list for ages and ages. I just cannot wait to visit the quaint seaside towns along the way. I know that these Atlantic shores of this northeastern state have plenty to offer and I am ready to take it all in for two glorious weeks. Awe--give me all the chilly sea breezes and local seafood.

I knew I wanted to take some of Zelma Rose's pieces with me to explore coastal Maine so I was so excited when Lisa sent me two of her beautiful creations for all my New England seaside adventures.

Tulsa's 4 Most Instagrammable Walls

I love exploring a city I’m visiting and capturing its essence. When I travel somewhere new, or if I want to play tourist in my own city, I like to find the best spots to take pictures. I so look forward to really capturing all the hot spots in all the cities I travel to and sharing them with you so you can also capture some amazing photos for your Insta grid. And we know it's for Instagram, right?! Laugh out loud.

So there are some people who never feel the urge to leave the house . They’re completely content to stay in the city they came from and literally just float in the 360 degrees that surround them. And then there’s the rest of us who can’t sit still . We have a love for travel and curiosity. We love taking risks, exploring new places , ideas, and foods. We even live for the day trips hitting that big magical open road exploring our own cities . We embrace these #NeverIdle lifestyle just like #TeamValvoline

I’m working with Valvoline to feature some of Tulsa’s coolest street art with my top 4 murals that are not to be missed! Valvoline believes we were never meant to sit. To rest. To settle . We were meant to run. So we totally align in so many ways.

MEET THE MAKER: JEWELRY DESIGNER JEANA FROM THE NAKED BEAN

It’s no secret that I love female entrepreneurs!!

Jeana has such an incredible story and it's been so fun getting to know her fully!  She is always direct, and honest. She always tells it like it is, doesn’t dwell, and instead always moves forward. So inspired by Jeana, I returned home and started brainstorming a shoot location and knew I wanted to feature her on Go French Yourself.
