Remove Hair, Odors & Stains Left By Your Furry Friends Featuring The Laundress

FullSizeRender.jpg

Our house has definitely gone to the dogs. Having two four legged sweet boys in a 1500 square foot condo is bound to get a little hairy, and yes, it is driving me barking mad.

We also bathe our pups once a week but sometimes there are odors, and accidents and well---they are animals.

Yesterday I introduced you to a company called The Laundress and shared some ways to care for your silks and delicates at home. You can read all about that here. And I promised to share some more of The Laundress brand with you today for your pets.

So as promised..let's just dive right in!

I love the nontoxic formulas and handcrafted tools designed to remove pet messes on all surfaces and fabrics! We just got a new rug and sofa and I am wanting to keep it as perfect as possible. So I am thrilled The Laundress will work on these.

They are also scented in Classic, the ultimate “clean laundry smell,” blending lily of the valley and jasmine with sweet musk, sandalwood, and a touch of citrus. It smells so clean and crisp my dears.

The first product I want to talk about is the Pet Duo because it's my favorite. This duo includes the Darks Detergent and the Clothing & Upholstery Brush designed to erase the trace — from stains and odors to fur and dander. They are two powerful secret weapons for sure.

We are tired of our black pieces and our dark towels fading and everything of ours being covered in hair---so the Darks Detergent formulated with hardworking enzymes and color guard, keeps dark and brightly colored items rich and vibrant while removing lint, dust, and pet hair. It's highly concentrated too—up to 64 washes.

The Clothing & Upholstery Brush is freakin' fabulous. Sticky lint rollers are made of plastic, not to mention felt lint removers will redeposit lint if swiped in the wrong direction. Sigh. The Laundress's Clothing & Upholstery Brush gently yet effectively removes lint, fuzz, pills, hair, and fur, leaving your item looking neat and clean. It's handcrafted by the artisans of Redecker and this brush will last a lifetime, and your wardrobe just as long! I am in love with this brush!!

The All-Purpose Bleach Alternative is another favorite of mine. It's perfect for that extra boost of clean. This nontoxic, biodegradable, and fragrance-free alternative to chlorine bleach works wonders to safely remove dirt, stains, and odors. Add to the wash cycle to whiten and brighten clothes—it’s safe for colors. You can also use this single product to clean your entire home—floors, tiles, sinks, and surfaces.

Highly concentrated—up to 32 washes, 64 soaks, and 128 stains.

The Laundress Scented Vinegar--OMG-this stuff needs to be on hand at all times. Vinegar is known for its powerful cleansing properties that fight stains, buildup, odors, and germs. However, it’s also known for its off-putting “vinegary” smell. Combining their popular No. 247 scent ( blending fresh, clean notes of bergamot, thyme, eucalyptus, lavender, and ylang-ylang) with natural vinegar, this multipurpose product gets glassware to sparkle, easily removes bathtub film, and effectively tackles messes and odors in the kitchen! Annnnd is a master with pet odors and accidents.

And last but not last the Fabric Fresh Classic. This stuff smells so clean and fresh and is a must with animals. This nontoxic formula with antibacterial properties adds scent while removing odor. Spray to freshen clothing and bedding between washes. Ideal for deodorizing outerwear, car interiors, sneakers, and luggage. Works great for closets and drawers, too!

I love the blog over at The Laundress! It's packed with such great info so I pulled this info directly from their blog---

A PET ACCIDENT

Whether you’re potty training, or your pet just didn’t make it out in time, a urine-related incident happens to most pet owners at some point.

 GATHER THESE TOOLS:

Spray Bottle, Scented Vinegar, Lint-Free Cleaning Cloths, All-Purpose Bleach Alternative, Scrub Brush

STEP 1

Blot as much of the mess as possible using a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth. This step is important as you’ll want to soak up as much of the urine as possible before it seeps into the surface.

STEP 2

Mix 1 cup of Scented Vinegar with 1 cup of lukewarm water in a spray bottle. Spray the affected area generously, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. If necessary, use the Scrub Brush to work the solution in. The Scented Vinegar acts to neutralize the uric acid in the urine that’s responsible for odors and fading. It’s important to follow this step with a good rinse using hot water and a cloth or you may be left with a bleached or pink spot later on.

STEP 3

If working on carpet, once you’ve neutralized the uric acid, you’ll need to clean the area. Wet a Wash & Stain Bar and work into a lather. Apply directly to the affected area rubbing gently to remove the stain. Once the stain is lifted, wet a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth in warm water and dampen the area to remove the soap suds completely. Dry the area with a dry portion of The Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth until completely dry to avoid water marks later on.

STEP 4

To further freshen carpet, once dry, generously sprinkle All-Purpose Bleach Alternative on the area and let sit for 10-15 minutes before vacuuming up the granules.

If the surface is hard (wood, tile, etc.) dilute 1/2 cup All-Purpose Bleach Alternative with a gallon of water. Then, mop the floor with the solution. The bleach formula will further disinfect the area. Allow to dry completely.

NOT SO FRESH KITTY LITTER

No one loves that kitty litter smell – no one! This quick fix will provide some relief for your sniffer.

GATHER THESE TOOLS:

A Small Bowl, Scented Vinegar, Home Spray

STEP 1

To keep the kitty litter smell at bay, fill a bowl with 1 cup of Scented Vinegar, and place it near the kitty litter. This natural deodorizer absorbs unsavory odors, and the No. 247 fragrance masks that vinegary smell. Replace your vinegar regularly every 3-4 weeks.

STEP 2

To further freshen the area, spray Home Spray liberally.

SICK SITUATIONS

Pets are not immune to the same stomach bugs and food woes that their human companions face. When their stomachs turn, a few steps will help you get in the clear.

GATHER THESE TOOLS:

Paper Towels, Lint-Free Cleaning Cloths, All-Purpose Bleach Alternative, Stain Solution, Scrub Brush, Vacuum

STEP 1

Clean up as much of the mess as possible, removing the more substantial pieces. If you're working on a hard surface, use paper towels. If working on carpet, use Lint-Free Cleaning Cloths so you don't leave behind a residue.

STEP 2

Blot the area with a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth (or paper towels) to absorb as much of the moisture as possible.

STEP 3

Mix 1 cup of Scented Vinegar with 1 cup of lukewarm water in a spray bottle. Spray the affected area generously, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. If necessary, use the Scrub Brush  to work the solution in. The Scented Vinegar acts as a natural deodorizer and will remove the urine scent while lifting the stain.

STEP 4

To treat any stains that remain, apply Stain Solution and work into the area using the Scrub Brush. Let sit for 5 minutes. Then, wet a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth with warm water and blot the area. Continue to repeat until the stain is no longer visible.

STEP 5

If working on carpet, cover the affected area with All-Purpose Bleach Alternative. The beads will further absorb the moisture and deodorize the floor, removing odors at the source. Allow the All-Purpose Bleach Alternative to sit for 15-20 minutes.  Then vacuum. If the surface is hard (wood, tile, etc.) dilute 1/2 cup All-Purpose Bleach Alternative with a gallon of water. Then, mop the floor with the solution. The bleach formula will further disinfect the area.

STEP 6

Leave the area to dry or dry using a Lint-Free Cleaning Cloth.

SMELLY CARPETS

When your pet’s signature smell takes up permanent residence in your carpets, turn to this easy solution. Carpets will get back to fresh status in 15 minutes max!

GATHER THESE TOOLS:

All-Purpose Bleach Alternative, Vacuum

STEP 1

To quickly and easily deodorize smelly carpets, sprinkle All-Purpose Bleach Alternative liberally across the rug. The chlorine-free solution is nontoxic, free of allergens, and formulated with natural ingredients, so it’s safe to have around your pets.
