Gym Rat Smoothie From Oh She Glows

This is one of my favorite smoothies, especially when I am really putting the time into my workout regime ! We know that protein is critical ! This smoothie is naturally sweetened with dates so you can feel no guilt drinking it ! The taste is so divine, you sorta feel like you are cheating on your good meal plan . Although this drink already boasts more then 8 grams of protein, you can easily add a scoop of vanilla protein powder to bring it up to more than 20 grams of protein for a great post-workout recovery drink ! I already went for my jog and am ready for this right now !

(makes 1 smoothie. If you are being a sweet heart and making one for a friend or your sweetie, just double the recipe)


1 cup almond milk

2 tablespoons gluten free rolled oats

3 pitted Medjool dates, to taste

1 tablespoons chia seeds

1 tablespoon peanut butter or almond butter (Trader Joe's also makes a peanut butter with chia seeds that I love )

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (i also add a pinch of nutmeg)

1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

4 to 5 ice cubes 

In a high speed blender, combine all of the ingredients and blend until smooth ! 

If your blender has a difficult time pureeing rolled oats and dates, place the oats and dates and milk in the blender, stir and let sit for 10 to 15 minutes to soften !
